Press Herald - The Maine Senate narrowly rejected a “right-to-die” bill that would allow terminally ill patients to request drugs to end their own lives. The 18-17 vote came after an hour of emotional debate on the bill to make Maine the sixth state where doctors are permitted to prescribe a lethal dose of drugs to terminally ill patients who are seeking help dying. The patients – not the physicians – would then self-administer the drugs at a time of their choosing.
